In honor of National Tattoo Day, join the North Carolina Preservation Consortium to learn more about the Tattoo Archive in Winston Salem from North Carolina’s own Chuck Eldridge. Chuck Eldridge is a retired tattoo artist and co-founder of the Paul Rogers Tattoo Research Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Winston-Salem, NC, also known as the Tattoo Archive.
Chuck will speak about the rich history of tattooing in North Carolina, the history of the Tattoo Archive and Tattoo Research Center, and the collection. While tattooing was illegal in states neighboring North Carolina at different points in time, it has never been illegal in North Carolina. Perhaps this helped cultivate the art in the state. He will also share information about the greater national movement to preserve tattoo history.
