Call for Conference Presentations

The North Carolina Preservation Consortium is pleased to share this call for proposals for its 2021 annual conference. Considering last year’s successful online format and current public health concerns, it will be held virtually again this year Friday, November 5, 2021.

Titled Adapting to a New Reality: How Cultural Institutions are Responding to COVID-19, the conference will focus on how we as a community are working to maintain and keep our organizations moving forward in a challenging time. Possible presentation topics include:

  • Making budgets work in case of shortfall or reorganization due to closures.
  • Monitoring collections when facilities are closed, managing interior disasters, working without volunteers/interns.
  • Acquisitions and donor relations, managing donations during quarantine, revamping donation/acquisition policies.
  • Opening collection spaces: procedural changes, staffing adaptations, sanitizing collections, research rooms, and galleries.
  • Programming: taking programs online or outside, self-guided programming.
  • Preserving the pandemic: collecting COVID-19 related materials, describing COVID-19 collections.
  • Staffing reallocations or changes.
  • Make it your story. How did COVID-19 impact your organization?

Submit proposals to: North Carolina Preservation Consortium Conference Committee,
c/o Barbara Ilie, bilie@dconc.gov

Proposals due Monday, October 4, 2021.
Acceptance notifications will be sent by October 9, 2021.
