Announcing 2nd Round of Hurricane Relief Grants

The North Carolina Preservation Consortium (NCPC) and the North Carolina Museum Council (NCMC) have joined forces last year to create a two-year grant program to assist collecting institutions affected by Hurricanes Matthew, Florence, and Michael. NCPC and NCMC are happy to announce a second round of grants that includes support for member institutions who suffered damage due to Hurricane Dorian.

Purpose and Scope of Grant

To provide funds for collection supplies for institutions affected by Hurricane Matthew (September-October 2016), Hurricane Florence (September 2018), Tropical Storm Michael (October 2018), and Hurricane Dorian (September 2019).  Institutions within the North Carolina counties declared disaster areas that need collection preservation assistance are eligible to apply for this grant. Nominations Sought for Robert James Award for Preservation Excellence

Nominations are being accepted for the Robert James Award for Preservation Excellence. Libraries, museums, archives, historic sites, and other organizations in North Carolina with a mission to preserve tangible heritage of enduring value are eligible for nomination.

Excellence should be demonstrated through descriptions of projects and programs that highlight commitment to preservation. At least three letters of support are required. Individuals are not eligible to be nominated. Complete submission information can be found online. Deadline for submissions is October 11, 2019. The award will be presented at this year’s Annual Conference. 

Paintings Preservation Workshop Scholarship Available–But Hurry!

We have extended the scholarship application deadline for our Paintings Preservation workshop to July 17, 2019.  We have one scholarship available. The scholarship covers registration for the workshop. It does not cover travel, lodging, or other expenses.

Applicants must be employees by or volunteers at a North Carolina institution, with a preservation mission that has little or no funding for professional development, or be a graduate student enrolled in a preservation-related program at a university in N.C. To apply for this scholarship, send an email explaining why attendance is important to you along with a current resume to the NCPC Executive Director. Deadline for scholarship applications is July 17, 2019.
