NCPC is partnering with the Society of North Carolina Archivists (SNCA) for a pre-conference workshop at UNCW’s Randall Library! As a complement to NCPC’s regular book repair workshops, this session will focus on caring for books in special collections. Larry Houston (pictured below), Preservation Librarian at East Carolina University’s Joyner Library, will lead instruction. Join in to learn new skills in creating supportive and protective enclosures for rare books and more.

• When? Wednesday, March 13, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
• Where? University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Randall Library, room 2014/ faculty commons
• How much? Registration is $50 for NCPC members and $75 for non-members.

Anne Jennings and Dewey Burgess from the Camden County Heritage Museum and Historic Jail accepted the 2018 Robert James Award for Preservation Excellence at the 2018 NCPC Annual Conference on November 16, 2018. This annual award recognizes institutions in North Carolina that have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the preservation of tangible and intangible heritage of enduring value. The NCPC Board of Directors selected the Museum for its commitment to preserving the history of Camden County and its historic jail.
